People have been racing small hovercraft and making kits at home or school for many years now, and over the last ten years, great improvements have been made by us and other manufacturers to improve on safety and performance parameters to make personal hovercraft ownership a viable alternative to usual water craft or boating vehicles.

Difference between personal hovercraft and other types

Personal hovercraft sold on our site is made for leisure and tend to be a bit slower but it is much more solid than race ones. It is obvious that for any vehicle designed for on-water use safety is the primary objective considered by developers. Salt water increas the risk of corrosion, so steel parts of personal hovercraft must be stainless parts to last longer during leisure use.

With race hovercraft a lihtweight design is needed; like planes or other flying crafts hovercrafts are weight-dependent. That is why hovercrafts are fast, but often unstable during travelling. Any obstacles on its way may become a mentionable problem. But the problem was solved in our leisure hovercrafts that are for sale here.

We don't think we have any competitors in this niche, since we build to marine personal hovercrafting standards, and none of the other hovercraft manufacturers, so far as we know, use this criteria. In the past, hovercraft have been designed as a race craft and using self build kits, which have hindered development - this is what makes Hov Pod better than the rest, although we often get frustrated by everyone assuming that all hovercrafts are the same - they are not!
